The Priorat with kids
The day is built around a visit children remember: going down into the galleries of the Bellmunt mine, always with a guide and about 45 minutes long. It must be booked ahead, and children under 8 go in free. L’Economat de les Mines restaurant is next door, with views of the Montsant, and serves home-style cooking.
In the afternoon, Falset castle is easy to visit with children: entry is free for under-8s and on Saturdays it also opens in the afternoon. If they prefer the open air, there is the alternative of the Siurana reservoir, with kayaks and canoes, or a picnic area at the Sant Antoni hermitage near Ulldemolins.
We have only marked as suited to children what the place’s own sources say is. Families who want a children’s menu at lunch can find one in la Morera de Montsant, although it is far from Bellmunt.

By season
From September to June the Bellmunt mines open on Saturdays 11:00–13:00 and 16:00–18:00 and on Sundays 11:00–13:00; in July and August, Tuesday to Saturday 11:00–13:00 and 17:00–19:00. Falset castle has a Saturday afternoon slot (16:00–18:00 or 17:00–19:00 depending on the time of year from October to June, and 17:00–20:00 from July to September).
